My name is Lavina, many know me as Rae. New York born and raised. I’m the mother of 3 beautiful daughters, a entrepreneur, author and podcaster.  I’ve been on this journey soul searching for most of my adult life and I invite others to unlock their God given life purpose through my work. 

I’ve been a NYC birth and postpartum doula for almost 10 years. I’m also a Certified Lactation Counselor, registered attachment educator, Childbirth Educator, a pelvic floor specialist and a early childhood educator  to name a few. 

Like so many birth workers, my journey into this sacred work began with my own pregnancy. I experienced such a beautiful birth with the support of a doula which ignited my passion to bring this type of support to my community. My birth inspired me to dive deep into this work and do my part to change the narrative surround birth in the Black and Brown community. I've spent my time working in with a NYS initiative to create breastfeeding friendly communities by  training and designating businesses in marginalized communities to become breastfeeding friendly companies. In 2022 I traveled to Charlotte, North Carolina to support their better birth initiative. Working alongside local organizations, my team successfully established a Chocolate Milk Cafe chapter in Charlotte. We also built from the ground up "The Village Community doula program"  a program that offers free doula services to Charlotte most at risk population. This program is now run and operated by Mind Body Baby inc and continues to support underserved black and brown families. In addition to creating a safe space for black and brown bodies to receive infant feeding support, and doula services; we also partnered with Blue Cross Blue Shield Charlotte to host a 12 week prenatal and postpartum support group and education series.  

Lavina is a well seasoned doula, with a passion for positively impacting birthing families through better birth practices and exceptional postpartum support.
